Thinking Outside the Box

Don’t think of a fan as a mechanism that uses a rotating arrangement of blades that directs airflow. Instead, think of a machine that pushes or pulls air through an interior space. My challenge with this project is to create a product that shows its mechanism and how it can do that. thinking of how a person would fan themselves with handheld fans, I designed a fan with a variety of styles that combined organic, classical, and modern elements resulting in a steampunk effect.

Proof of concept: With the help of Solidworks motions study, I was able to proof it will work before I made the parts out of aluminum. The fan work similar to a crankshaft on an engine.
